What we do

Promoting, encouraging and supporting the arts of Kapiti

MENTORING
A key issue for artists is how to turn their artistic endeavours into a profitable business.
We provide training  and mentors to new and established artist to help them create a sustainable livelihood.

FUNDING
We provide expert assistance with securing funding for projects events, ranging from assistance with identifying source of funding, completing funding applications and working with local sponsors and philanthropists.

EVENTS
Creative Kapiti Charitable Trust encourages community participation in the arts through running events. We welcome opportunities to work with community groups and artists for the staging of events including exhibitions, screening and performances.

EDUCATION
Through running workshops, lectures and conferences we aim to increase understanding and involvement in the arts. We work in collaboration with community groups, schools and other educational institution.

Our Latest Project Seeking Support

The Kilns at Te Horo will be a significant arts, cultural and heritage community asset and a focus for ceramic arts. Visitors will again see where important potter Mirek Smisek worked, view his unique beehive kilns and be inspired  by the Resident Potter. Due to open late 2023.

The project administrators are The Mirek Smisek Arts Trust. (A registered charitable Trust)

We are looking for funding for the approximately 10 information storyboards to tell the stories of the land, potter Mirek Smisek, the bee-hive kilns, the native bush, the 100 year old cottage, plus other land marks and attractions.

Each storyboard will cost $1,100 plus installation. All donations of any amount are very welcome. Tax deduction receipts will be issued. Thank you for your support!

Another Project Seeking Support

Kiriakos Zorzi has been fascinated with the power and story telling potential of human hands.

He is embarking on a photographic exhibition in which he will be inviting eight individuals, who reside in the Kapiti region to take part in this project.

Each participant will be ask to hold in their hands items of personal significance that they will each describe and discuss the relevance to their lives. Each subject will also be asked how their lives connect and inter-relate to the Kapiti region they live in.

Creative Kapiti Charitable Trust is a registered charity (CC48560) formed in September 2021 with the aim of promoting, encouraging and supporting arts in Kapiti Coast community. The Trust has a wide definition of arts which includes all forms of creative and interpretative expressions.
